Abstract
Biomechanics, Timing, and Risk Control in Orthodontic Patients with Periodontitis
Managing a patient susceptible to periodontal disease who requires orthodontic treatment generally involves a complex Stage 3–4 case.
This renders the treatment itself extremely complex and time-consuming.
A team-based approach—involving the periodontist, hygienist, and orthodontist—is essential to enhance treatment efficacy and predictability.
Consequently, the treatment protocol prioritizes the resolution of periodontal issues in accordance with established guidelines, with personalized orthodontic treatment commencing only thereafter.
Equally important is the periodontal maintenance program, designed to monitor the long-term stability of the results achieved. In this context, high patient compliance is crucial to minimize the risk of relapse.
The lecture will focus on every clinical phase, from initial diagnosis to the finalization of the case.
